STILLS OF PEACE AND EVERYDAY LIFE, ITALY AND SOUTH KOREA. THE INTERNATIONAL ART AND CULTURE EXHIBITION – 8TH EDITION, IS ALL SET FOR THE GRAND OPENING IN ATRI ON JULY 4, 2021

Fondazione Aria is proud to announce the opening of its International Art Festival featuring a team of five curators, fourteen artists, five contemporary art exhibitions and a selection of South Korean movies in original language with Italian subtitles. The inauguration will take place in the amazing Palazzo Acquaviva in Atri, on July 4 and 5 at 06:00 p.m.

Fondazione Aria, in cooperation with the Municipality of Atri and under the direction of Delloiacono Comunica agency, announces for the eighth consecutive year, the launch of the Festival of International Cultures “Stills of Peace and Everyday Life”. After more than a hundred featured artists from Pakistan, Spain, France, China, Morocco, Iran and Japan, Stills of Peace 2021 comparative journey of knowledge sets a new milestone, turning to South Korea, a country with a strong cultural identity, that has its roots in a 5-thousand years history and is experiencing, at the same time, a strong creative and innovative drive, always considered as a sort of bridge between the “Asian tigers” China and Japan.

On Sunday, July 4, at 06:00 p.m., at Acquaviva Palace Courtyard, the opening event of Stills of Peace Festival, under the direction of Giovanna Dello Iacono, with Ma.Co. / a Contemporary Marathon, that in two days will feature representatives of the institutions, curators, artists and an ever growing devoted audience of the annual date organized by Fondazione Aria in cooperation with the Municipality of Atri for the openings of the five exhibitions in Cisterne di Palazzo Acquaviva, Museo Archeologico and Palazzo Cardinal Cicada venues. The Marathon continues on Jul. 5 at 06:00 p.m., with the guided tour of the three venues of the exposition, and, at 08:30 p.m., with the presentation of Cine Korea, a film festival curated by Pino Bruni, followed by the screening of Painted Fire – or Drunk on Women and Poetry (2002) by Im Kwon-Taek, the first of the six projections dedicated to Korean cinema (o.v. with italian subtitles), taking place every Monday at 09:00 p.m.

The exhibitions will reside at Atri’s historical buildings until August 22. The Acquaviva Palace Cisterns will host the site specific exhibitions: Beyond the Diary from artist Jukhee Kwon and 365 figures by Andrea Fogli, both curated by Antonio Zimarino. The Archeological Museum will host the pictures from Jungjin Lee’s Unnamed Road project, exposition curated by Paolo Dell’Elce, an enchanted eye on the territories between Israel and Palestine; the same venue will also host Per Fumum / Through the smoke curated by Eva Comuzzi (featured artists: Seo Young Chang, Yun Choi / Minhwi Lee, T-Yong Chung, Soko Hwang, Geumhyung Jeong, Eemyun Kang, OH You Kyeong, Young Joo Lee, Kim Myeongbeom), the space in which the Korean artists will display their artworks ranging from sculpture to painting, to videoart. Cicada Cardinal Palace will host Barbara Uccelli’s exhibition Flaws / Vizi di forma, curated by Mariano Cipollini, a multidisciplinary path aiming at detecting and analysing faults and imperfections that underlie modern society.

Stills of Peace, honoured this year with the Patronage of Italian Ministry of Culture and with all of ten official recognitions by the main international cultural institutions, is the central event of the Fondazione Aria activity’s 10th anniversary celebration. The foundation chaired by Ottorino La Rocca affirms its mission of perpetuation and innovation of the figure of the entrepreneur as a patron, the driving force of social progress and life improvement for everyone.
